2011 was for Altran a year of transition, both in terms of organisation and positioning, placing the clients at the heart of a new strategy for the Group. This year was also marked by an uncertain economic situation and a gloom compounded by the media that delight in advertising the bad news, and less often the good ones, the successes, the innovations...
However, 2011 has been a very good year for Altran, thanks to the professionalism, commitment, and skills of women and men who day after day give the best of themselves in 21 countries worldwide on behalf of Altran and its subsidiaries.
Among the successes of 2011, I want to point out:
• Germany, on track to become the Group's third biggest country
• France, for outdoing its 2008 performance in terms of sales
• Switzerland and Sweden, for displaying tremendous growth
• Cambridge Consultants, for having had a record year
• Asia, with now over 400 people working daily for the Group
• A controlled debt level and a reinforced financial solidity carrying our future investments
• The disposal of two of our subsidiaries, Arthur D. Little and Hilson Moran UK, in line with our strategic refocusing
"Citius, Altius, Fortius"
In 2012, an Olympic year, the Games motto of "Faster, Higher, Stronger" will be on everyone's mind. It will also be Altran's motto to enable us to achieve our goals and strengthen our leadership position.
We must show the value of our teams and our skills, assert our commercial strength as well as our power to collaborate on innovative and complex projects. We must also demonstrate our operational excellence to position ourselves as experts of the future, and to support innovation day after day.
The reason why our clients are at the heart of our new strategy is to better serve and meet their expectations: increasingly skilled consultants, strengthened international presence, enhanced investment in fixed-price projects.
The success of this strategy also relies on the commitment of all Altran employees. Our human capital is the primary asset of our group. This is why it has been decided to enhance HR development in 2012 and focus on career paths and training.
I wish you all the best for 2012. Happy New Year!
Philippe Salle Chairman and Chief Executive, Altran
